I usually build grid views containing the most important plugins for certain channels. During a show, most of the time the grid for the main vocals is active on my macBooks screen next to the mixing console.
Last weekend I had a situation where the main vocalist spontaneously decided to interview someone from the audience using his microphone. As he has a quite powerful voice and stage volume is usually high, I clean up the vocal channels with a Waves PSE instance set to relatively extreme settings which in that situation would just not open when the microphone was handed to that person from the audience speaking at much lower volume.
Unfortunately I had to do a few clicks to switch to the chain view and bypass the plugin there – enough seconds passed to cause some “why is the mic not working” kind of confusion that I would have preferred to avoid.
In that situation I would have wished for a bypass button right in the grid view to be able to act quicker. Is that something you would consider as a future feature?
