I currently have one Q8 and one transfer engine. The user manual mentions two Q8 engines mirroring each other and sharing a single transfer engine. This process uses an Orange Box with fiber optic transmission. Is the Orange Box necessary? Also, can a MADI-B card be used for audio communication between the console and the transfer engine? If I have two transfer engines, can I achieve redundancy similar to two Fourier engines?
At the moment there is no particular “redundancy Mode” for the Transform Engine yet.
So you can connect one TFE to each Engine of the Q8 (e.g. through Fourier Interface Card or Dante DMI) and transfer the settings manually/showfiles manually. At least thats what i think.
Because in my opinion there is no real redundancy function at the moment, we keep our TFE connected to the orangebox in the optocore loop to connect to both engines, which works great.
The TFE supports Dante and (soon) Hyperport, so MADI is no option to transfer the audio.
