Theoretical CPU question

I really like the Transform Engine, but there’s a question came to my mind:
What would happen if somebody would swap the CPU to a 14900 which has the similar socket but 42% better multi core performance?
I guess it’s not that easy in the linux ecosystem

Thanks for the fun question!

Hypothetically speaking, even if you could get it to post, the Plugin Host would almost certainly fail due to the fine-tuning we’ve done with our architecture. On the off chance it did run, core allocation would be incorrect, and performance cores wouldn’t behave as expected, so you wouldn’t have a very fun time with overall performance. For continuity of the platform, there are also additional security mechanisms in place to prevent this scenario!

Out of interest, are you running out of performance or just curious?

Thank you for the answer!
The reason of the question was more like curiousity, but sometimes there are some real world scenarios when I ran out of performance, or it would be better to have more “CPU processing headroom”. I usually use some really cpu hungry plugins like the Slate Verbsuite on 32 buffer at 96khz.
